Obituary
Dorothy Jean McChesney, "Dot," 74, of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with her Lord in her home on Wednesday June 26, 2013, due to a long battle with mesothelioma.
Dorothy was born in Ashland, Nebraska on May 4, 1939. She graduated from Casper High School in Casper Wyoming and continued on to receive a degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Dorothy was a loving wife to her husband Stewart for 58 years. She served as a pastor's wife for many years, loving her church family as her own.
She enjoyed being with her grandkids and loved all arts and crafts. She loved to spend time with God's Word and sing in the church choir. She was also actively involved in events that helped others such as the Manna Ministry and various ladies' ministries.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her father, Herbert Claire Atwood.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Stewart; her two children: son, Reid and daughter-in-law Brenda McChesney (Columbus, GA), her daughter, Beth Baltimore and son-in-law Curt (Cleveland, TN), and six grandchildren, Luke McChesney (Denver, CO), Aaron McChesney (Columbus, GA), Grant McChesney (Statesboro, GA), Danielle McChesney (Quincy, IL), Matt Baltimore (Chattanooga, TN), and USMC Kyle Baltimore. She is also survived by her mother Morgot Knudsen Atwood (Casper, WY), and four sisters, Barbara Barella (Casper, WY), Kay Wagner (South Shore, NC), Connie Meyer (Houston, TX), Beda Collins (Denver, CO), and one brother, Jimmy Atwood (Syracuse, IN). Dorothy is also survived by four great grandchildren; Eve and Jade McChesney; Cloud and Willow McChesney, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd. Rev. Rusty Asble and Edna Polier will be officiating and
the First Baptist Church sanctuary choir will be singing. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00pm until the service time at 7:00pm. A white dove release will follow the service.
The family of Dorothy McChesney wishes to thank the Sunday School Class of Rodney Fitzgerald as well as the FBC Choir for all their love, prayers, flowers, visits, and care during her illness. They would also like to thank Mary and Wayne Goodwill, Edna Polier, Betty Bohannon, Carol Fulbright, Shirley Beckler, and so many others for their tender care of Dorothy in her last days.
