Dorothy Hopkins Cook, 92, of Englewood, TN went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2024, at her home. She attended Wildwood Baptist Church. She was born on October 15, 1931, in Sherman, TX to Marks Warfield and Francis Lewise (Dunn) Hopkins of Sherman, TX.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Donald Forshee Cook, whom she met in high school and married on Christmas Eve 1953. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen Warfield Cook, her son Frank Forshee Cook, her daughter Nancy Cook Brocke, and her older sister Nancy Jane Jamison.
Dorothy is survived by: Her daughter-in-law (Frank's wife) Julie Shrewsbury Cook of Jacksonville, FL and their son Skylar & wife Tencia of San Francisco, CA; Her son Andrew Warfield Cook of Englewood, TN and his daughter Sophie of San Diego, CA; Her son William Eric & wife Rebecca Tang Cook of Plano, TX and their children Natalie of Dallas, TX, Stephen of San Francisco, CA, Caleb of Frisco, TX, and Benjamin of Columbus, OH; and Her son-in-law (Nancy's husband) Timothy Brocke of Ashburn, VA and their sons Conner of Richmond, VA, and Corey of Alexander, VA.
Dorothy attended Christian College in Missouri, Austin College in Sherman, TX, and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
Dorothy, also known as Dor, loved the Lord and her family dearly and wanted everyone to be saved and go to heaven. She also loved her friends and served her community. She was known for sending unique hand-decorated birthday & greeting cards, as well as frequently visiting nursing homes, tutoring reading at prisons, and delivering meals-on-wheels. She also was an accomplished artist, enjoying oil painting since college.
A memorial service will be held 6PM Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Wildwood Baptist Church in Englewood, TN with Pastor Bill Vest officiating. Graveside services will be held in Sherman, TX.
In lieu of flowers, Dor desired donations be made to Wildwood Baptist Church, Englewood, TN.
