Dorothy Theresa Benedict, of Cleveland, Tennessee, and formerly of Mount Prospect, Illinois, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
She was born on September 9, 1928, in Mount Olive Illinois, the daughter of the late Stephen and Catherine (Dragonovsky) Loksa.
She was preceded in her death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Donald Benedict, and her beloved daughter Donna Benedict. Five brothers, John, Joseph, Frank, Mike, and Albert. Four sisters, Elizabeth, Mary, Ann, and Theresa. Grandson Travis Piper.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Piper (Late Alden) of Brodhead, WI, Judy Asquith (Patrick), of Cleveland, Tennessee.
Granddaughters, Christine Schnell (Michael), of Knoxville, Tennessee, Carolyn Fincher, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Shannon Asquith, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Stacey Arnold (Jerome) of Knoxville, Tennessee and Jessica Anderson (Kevin) of Ordfordville, Wisconsin.
Great Grandchildren Forrest Fincher, Brayden, Britton, and Brianne Schnell, Willow and August Arnold, and Caitlin Piper.
Great great Granddaughter, Hazel Pinnow.
Many GrandCats, GrandDogs, and Ferrets.
2 Special Angels in her life, Linda Newby, and Friend for over 20 years, Emma Weltz.
She was a devout Catholic and was a member of Saint Emily’s Catholic Church. She was retired from the Chicago Board of Education, she enjoyed baking, counted cross stitch, Vienna waltzes, wood burning fires, playing board games with her family, and Hallmark Movies. She had a great sense of humor, and a memorable laugh.
Special thanks and appreciation to all the Drs, Nurses, and the entire Staff at Fresenius Bradley Dialysis, in Cleveland, Tennessee, for all of their amazing care and compassion. Also many thanks to a special Physical Therapist, Cris, at Amedisys Home Health Care, in Cleveland, Tennessee, and Hospice of Chattanooga, Cleveland Office.
Visitation Monday, June 28th, 9:30 A.M. until Funeral Mass 10:30 A.M. at St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Rd, Mount Prospect. Entombment All Saints.
Memorials can be made to Shriners Hospital and/or St Jude’s in Lieu flowers.
