Doris Hamilton

September 16, 1955 — March 26, 2025

Doris Amalie Hamilton, 69, of Athens went to be with the Lord on March 26, 2025. She was born on September 16, 1955 to Douglas and Betty Kelley in Hereford, Texas. She was a financial and insurance advisor for many decades helping hundreds of clients plan for their futures and the future of their loved ones. She was given the honor of receiving the Congressional Businesswoman of the Year award in 2003 in Washington, D.C., along with serving on several Congressional boards and committees in the areas of Insurance and Business.

While Doris left a huge impact in her chosen career, she symbolically laid that down while she was in Washington, D.C., in 2003 to take up her cross and follow her Lord Jesus in any path He laid before her. Her journey with the Lord led her to Athens in March of 2011 along with her youngest daughter Kaile followed later in the year by her oldest daughter Kristen and all of her granddaughters.

Doris lived a miraculous life and instilled in all that knew her a faith that truly moves mountains. Doris' greatest joy throughout her life was spending time with her Heavenly Father and her Lord Jesus while reading her Bible and praying for her household of faith. Her legacy of faith, strength, and endurance will live on through all the lives that she touched for generations to come.

Doris is now in the arms of the Lord as He leads her by the still waters in Heaven surrounded by all of her precious animals and loved ones that proceeded her. She will forever be abiding under the shadow of the Almighty and His wings.

She is survived by her daughter Kristen Bridwell-Hernandez of Athens, TN and Kaile (Hamilton) and husband Matt Weddle of Chattanooga, TN. She is also survived by her grandsons: Josiah Hernandez, and Micah and Nathanael Weddle; granddaughters: Ryen, Maisy, Sadie, and Alyssia Hernandez; great-granddaughters: Reyn Sumrall and Saylor Hernandez.

Her mother, Betty, father, Douglas, and sister Barbara Quintana preceded her in being considered worthy to escape this life to be with our Heavenly Father and His Son in heaven.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 12:00PM EST at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens, TN.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Dutch Sheets Ministries in her name as this was a ministry that was a blessing to her in her last days and one that she donated to as well.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Doris and/or your condolences with her family at her online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral & Cremation Service of Athens, TN and the Cody family are honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
