Dora was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. Preceding her death were her parents (Gordon and Helen), sister (Deana), and former husband (Cain). Dora attended elementary, middle, and high school in Chattanooga followed by college at The University of Knoxville and The University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. Dora married an Army Officer (Cain) traveling the world extensively. Her travels and residences included; Far East Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa, Israel, and Lebanon, all while raising her family.
Upon return to the greater Chattanooga area, Dora held the following professions; Floral Designer, Licensed Real Estate Agent (The Huffaker Realtors, Century 21 and Crye-Leike). Dora was also an accomplished pianist. In addition to traveling her passions included; embroidery, needlepoint, floral design, gardening, decorating, feeding and watching wild birds.
Dora immensely enjoyed entertaining for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed making cookies, pies and cakes.
While on a Holy Land Pilgrimage Tour to Jerusalem Dora was baptized in the Jordan River. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga. Dora lived by keeping God at the forefront of her journey and was a beloved member of her community.
Survivors include her sons Christopher, Derek and daughter in-law Jana.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Companion Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 11:00 AM. Pastor Dick Fisher, officiating.
The family request that all attendees wear a mask.
