Don Beitzel

Don Richard Beitzel, age 79, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 16, 2024. Don was born on October 4, 1945, in New Philadelphia, OH, and adopted in love by the late Donna and Dale Beitzel.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. During his working years, his jobs were many and varied, including owning a bar in Cleveland, OH. He later moved to Chattanooga where he was employed by Commercial Metals. After moving to Chattanooga, he met and married the love of his life, Harriet Horner Miller in 1994. He and Harriet moved to Lubbock, TX, in 1997 to continue his career with Commercial Metals and to be near his mother Donna. After the passing of his mom, he and Harriet returned to Chattanooga to retire.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 29 years, Harriet Horner Beitzel; step-son, Mike McLaughlin (Jean) of Cleveland, OH; step-daughter, Nadine Halas of Brook Park, OH; cousin Judi Skalnik of Wilmington, NC; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Catherine Parker, Joann Mayes, David Horner, Danny Horner (Freda), Paul Horner (Martha) of Cleveland, TN, and Richard Horner (Elizabeth) of Signal Mountain, TN; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
