Devin McKay Smith, 22, a loving son, brother, grandson, and friend, passed away on May 5, 2023, in Cleveland, TN. He was born on November 7, 2000, in Chattanooga, TN, to his parents, April Cooper and Roger Smith, Jr. Devin brought joy and laughter to all who knew him, with his unforgettable smile and selfless nature.


Devin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roger Smith, Sr., and his uncle, Adam Smith. He is survived by his mother, April Cooper (Gene); father, Roger Smith, Jr. (Deneyse); siblings, Peyton Woods, Zachary Haire, and Alexis Smith; grandparents, Randall Buckner (Jerri), Pam McKee, and Kathy Smith; great-grandparents, Lela Falkowski, and Sue Smith (Red); aunts, Melissa Hardin, Jennifer McCrary, Heather McKee, Amber McKee, Tiffany McKee, and Shawnda McKee; uncles, Shane McKee, Shawn McKee, and David Hardin; and his beloved dog, Nova, whom he considered his child.


Devin was an avid lover of nature and enjoyed spending his time outdoors. He found peace and happiness in fishing and kayaking, surrounded by the beauty of the mountains. His adventurous spirit led him to embrace the thrill of riding his treasured Harley motorcycle, often accompanied by his canine companion, Nova. When he wasn't riding, he could always be found working on his beloved bike or planning his next adventure. Devin's enthusiasm for life was infectious, and he inspired others to seek out their own adventures, as well.


Devin's love for his family was unwavering; he was known to go above and beyond for anyone, always willing to lend a helping hand or provide support. His unique ability to make everyone laugh brought light and warmth to all of life's moments, both big and small. Devin's warm- hearted nature, generous spirit, and playful humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him.


As we remember Devin, let us embrace his infectious laughter, boundless love, free spirit, and zest for life. He will live on in the memories of his family and friends, forever reminding us of the beauty of living life to the fullest and appreciating the simple pleasures.



The family will receive friends from 1-3PM on Wednesday, May 10 at Covenant First Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN with the service at 3PM. The burial will follow at Cedar Springs Cemetery in Cleveland, TN with Pastor Gary Higgins to officiate. Pallbearers will be Roger Smith, Peyton Woods, Zachary Haire, Tyler Stinnett, Michael Oliver and Daniel Oliver.
