Dennis E. Ownby

Dennis E. Ownby, Sr, 78, of Chattanooga, TN passed away November 22, 2017. He was born October 13, 1939 in Knoxville, Tn. He graduated from Bearden High School in 1956 and proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1957 to 1963 aboard the USS Bell Grove LSD2. He held different occupations throughout his life but retired from Shaw Transportation in October 2013. He was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by mother, Leona Sloan Ownby; father, Cecil Ownby; daughter, Lisa Ownby, and brother Melvin Ownby.

He is survived by is wife Linda of forty five years, daughter Crissy (Marty) Hubbs; son, Butch (Meredith) Ownby; five grandchildren, Jacob, Katie (Nick) McConathy, Jadah, Landon and Caleb. Three great-grandchildren, Austin, Laney and Coleman McConathy. Sister, Evelyn Moore, Brother Cecil Lee Ownby. He had many special cousins, nieces and nephews. Pastor Bruce Daugherty will be officiating the Memorial Service at Woodland Park Baptist Church, to be held on Saturday, December 2, located at 6735 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
