Dennis Black

October 10, 1943 — January 18, 2024

Dennis Michael Black, a beloved member of the Cleveland community, sadly passed away on January 18, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born on October 10, 1943, in Mosinee, WI, to Joseph Wizbeski and Mildred Dean Wizbeski. Joseph and Mildred married October 28, 1941. After the passing of Joseph Wizbeski to polio; Mildred, a few years later, married Arthur Black who adopted Karen, Dennis, and Philip, and in addition had two more children as listed below.

Dennis will be deeply missed by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sherrill Black, and their children: Troy Black and his wife Jennifer, Tara Heusterberg and her husband Rob, Jake Waddle, and Jeff Waddle. He also leaves behind his siblings: Karen Pantel and her husband Jerry, Philip Black and his wife Nancy, David Black and his wife Vickie, and Dawn (Jim) Baarendse. Dennis was a proud grandfather to Austin Waddel and his wife Lauren, Emma Waddel, Anderson Black (Haven) and his wife Haven, Connor Black (Taylor), Brady Black, Abagayle Waddel, Jack Waddle, and Charlee Waddle. He also had the joy of great-grandchildren Tarver Waddel, Laurel Waddel, and a precious baby boy on the way.

Dennis will be remembered for his love of family and friends. He was an avid football fan and had an unwavering passion for the Green Bay Packers. Dennis was also proud to serve in the United States Army. In his younger days, he enjoyed cruising the open road on his beloved Harley Davidson. Dennis was also a NASCAR enthusiast and admired the beauty of the Rocky Mountain where he met and married the love of his life, Sherrill.

Dennis and his wife Sherrill moved to Cleveland in 1989 from Sherrill's birth state of Colorado. Together they started Black Construction and grew the business with the help of Jeff and Jake in the summers to become the strong business it became.

His strong work ethic and values of honesty, dignity, and pride were evident throughout his life. As dedicated business owners and entrepreneurs, they established an incredible legacy. If you take a stroll through town and see the imprinted sidewalks proudly displaying "D. Black Const.," you will witness their family's lasting impact.

In accordance with Dennis' wishes, there will be no public services held at this time. However, you are invited to honor his memory and share your personal memories or condolences with his family through his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. There will be a celebration of life at Big Tom's Backyard Bar and Grill on February 18th at 4:30pm. All who knew and loved Dennis are welcome.
