DelJean Spykstra

DelJean Spykstra, born DelJean Backues, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 95 at the Life Care Center of Redbank.

Born in Phoenix, AZ, she graduated from Topeka High in Topeka, KS. She also attended Union College in Lincoln, NE. She is survived by her four children: JoDel Mize of Apison, TN; Mardel Robeson of Gentry, AR; Rodney Wolfe of Arvada, CO; and LynnDel Khalil of Damascus, Syria. DelJean was a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. She is deeply missed by all her family, as well as many dear friends whose lives she touched with her warmth, caring and kindness. 

DelJean will be laid to rest beside her husband, James Spykstra, in Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado-a serene and historic resting place known for its beautiful gardens and views of the Rockies. Her legacy of love and devotion to family and friends endures in the hearts of all who knew her.
