Deborah McKenzie

Deborah Karen McKenzie, born May 16, 1955, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, in her hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee. She was 70 years old.

Deborah was a loving, caring, and boisterous soul who lived life her own way-with strength, humor, and an unwavering devotion to her faith and family. She loved God deeply and held a fierce commitment to the Bible, drawing strength and comfort from her beliefs throughout her life.

She was the proud mother of her daughter, Tina Collins, and a grandmother to Sabra Cannon (Thaddeus), Jasmine Roden (Johnny), and Ellie Massingale. Her joy multiplied with her great-grandsons, Parker Cannon and Baby Roden, who brought light and laughter into her days.

Deborah is survived by her cousin Brenda Rapier (Randy), as well as many other beloved cousins, extended family members, and friends who were touched by her kindness and vibrant personality.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark McKenzie; her father, Jack Elrod; her mother, Wilma Hayes Elrod; her sister, Gincy Burnette; and her brother, Louie Elrod.

A woman of many passions, Deborah had a special love for her old black truck. Even in her later years, she could often be found tinkering with it in the yard, working on it like a seasoned mechanic. It brought her pride, joy, and a sense of independence that reflected her spirited nature.

Those who knew Deborah will remember her not only for her faith and strength but also for her humor, kindness, and creativity. She had a passion for writing, often putting her thoughts and feelings into journals and poems that captured the depth of her heart. Her words, like her presence, were filled with meaning and warmth.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Cleveland Cornerstone Church. Family visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by friends visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with the service immediately following.

Deborah's legacy of love, laughter, and faith lives on in those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
