David Windle Wells, aged 64, of Athens, Tennessee, died surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. He was born on December 19, 1959, to Charles B. Wells and Fay Windle Wells.
He attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee, where he met his wife, Mariam Rene Wells. He graduated with a degree in Agricultural Science in 1984. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, where he served as President. David and Rene moved to Crossville after college and started a family in a house he built. His first child John David slept in the newly constructed closet while David finished their first home. In 1995, they moved to Athens, where they raised their four children. David's greatest joy was his family, and he lived his life fully. He was unofficially a world class flipper and was doing double backflips off the diving board well into his 50s.
He is survived by his wife Rene; their four children John David (Amber) Wells, Zachary (Hannah) Wells, Elizabeth Wells, Matthew Wells; his siblings Steve Wells, Beth Wells (Hugo Welch), and Amy Wells Duckett; his grandchildren Charles Wells, Alexander Wells, and James Wells, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and two grandnephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles B. Wells and Fay Windle Wells, and one niece, Suzanna Duckett.
Please join us in celebrating his life at the Tea Room in Standing Stone State Park in Overton County, Tennessee on January 18, at 2:00 p.m. CST.
