Obituary for David Thomas Deeter


David Thomas Deeter, age 66, a resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on July 16, 2023, at his residence in Chattanooga. He was born on January 6, 1957, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, to the late Clifford and Dorothy (Hynes) Deeter.


David lived in the Chattanooga area for two years and had previously resided in Lehigh Acres, FL before making his home in Tennessee. He was a person of strong faith in the Protestant tradition. David had a wide range of interests, including enjoying movies, trying his luck with slot machines, and savoring meals at restaurants. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, college football, and major league baseball, truly embracing the spirit of sports.


Beyond his hobbies, David was a devoted husband and a loving and caring friend to many. He cherished his relationships and valued the time spent with his loved ones.


David is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Noe-Deeter, and his sons Michael (Madeline) Mercadante and Frank Mercadante. He also leaves behind his siblings, Clifford, Gertrude, Donna, Jerry, Dennis, Ted, and Pamela. Additionally, David will be remembered by his grandson Akuma Mercadante, nine nephews, three nieces, and numerous great nephews and nieces. He was a proud retired US Marine and had a fulfilling career as a plumber for 40 years.


He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers Henry, John, and Robert Deeter, and his sister Ruth Sobrowski. Their memory will forever be held dear by those who loved David.


Final arrangements have been entrusted to Companion Funeral and Cremation Service in Chattanooga. The family will have a private service at a later date to honor and celebrate David's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Marines Memorial Association or the American Cancer Society, causes that held personal significance for David.


In the hearts of those who knew him, David will be cherished for his warmth, kindness, and genuine love for others. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort and solace to all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
