In Loving Memory of David Lawrence Pirkle

Beloved father, husband, cherished grandfather, and dear friend, David Lawrence Pirkle, peacefully passed away on November 1, 2023, at his home in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was 84 years old.

Born on November 18, 1938, in Cleveland, Tennessee. David was the loving son of his late parents, Lawrence Grant Pirkle and Martha Josephine Quinn. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death his wife: Mary Jane Lawson Pirkle; sister Rebecca Dawn Hamilton; brother Joseph Grant Pirkle; son-in-law Ronald Eugene Parker Jr.; sister-in-law Wilma Ruth Williams.

Having graduated from Bradley Central High School with the class of 1957, David embarked on a successful career in the printing industry. For an impressive 70 years, he dedicated himself to his work, ultimately becoming the proud owner of Donaldson Printing Company. His expertise and commitment earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.

Above all else, David cherished his family. His daughters Carolinda Burns (Crawford), Deleana Clayton (Brent) and DeVette Carter, were his greatest source of joy and pride. He adored his grandchildren, Brandon Burns (Samantha), Brette Burns and her son, William Lawrence Schroll. Jacora Parker, Clint Clayton (Alexa Peirson), Brae Clayton, and Cailyn Carter, and basked in the happiness they brought him. He is also survived by brother Tommy Pirkle (Karen), sister Ann Bolen, and sister-in-law Brenda Wilkinson and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

David will forever be remembered for his affectionate nature, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering devotion to his loved ones. He was affectionately known as "Daddy," "Papaw," and "Papaw Extra" - titles that epitomized the immense love and care he showered upon his family.

Friends and family are invited to pay their final respects and support the family during the visitation hours, which will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Sunday, November 5th, at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of David's remarkable life will be held on Monday, November 6th, at 11:00am at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
