David Bowen

September 15, 1954 — February 6, 2024

David Maynard Bowen, husband of Susan Tomlinson Bowen, passed away at the age of 69 on February 6, 2024.

Mr. Bowen was born September 15, 1954 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Maynard Bowen and Beverly Moulton Bowen. Mr. Bowen was a former Master Mason of the Springfield-Hanby Lodge in Springfield, PA, and a loving father and husband. He enjoyed RV camping and spending time with his family. Before retirement, he was a store manager where he was not only loved by his staff but occasionally helped raise money for charities such as St. Jude and Shriner Hospitals. Mr. Bowen received a kidney in 2019, donated by his brother, Dwight Bowen. This selfless act of brotherly love gave him the chance to resume a normal life and continue endearing those around him.

Surviving besides his wife, Susan Bowen of Athens, TN, are his three sons, David Bowen Jr, Michael (Anna) Bowen, and Cliff (Kristina) Partin Jr; daughter, Jessica Partin; six grandchildren; sister, Judy Brumback; brother, Dwight (Margie) Bowen; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bowen was proceeded in death by his sister, Jane Bowen.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Companion Funeral and Cremation in Athens, TN, with a Memorial Service to follow.

As a kidney receiver, charity raiser, organ donor, and frequent blood donor, the family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor to the American Kidney Fund, National Kidney Foundation, or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

You are encouraged to share a memory of David and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial webpage and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Athens is honored to assist his family with these arrangements.
