Danny Wayne Watkins, 65, of Bradley County, passed away at his home peacefully into the arms of Jesus with his loving wife and sole caregiver by his side on September 30, 2024.
Danny was a truckdriver for 40+ years and was previously employed at Transwood Inc. for 11 years until a decline in his health in March of 2023.
He was a dedicated fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed watching Nascar and the Saratoga Horse Races.
Danny loved to fish with his wife on or off the water and spending time doing many other outdoor activities.
Danny loved his wife and together they lived life to the fullest. He loved to hear Gods word read and preached. He loved to pray be prayed for and worship Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. He loved to share with others what God had done for him in his long 2+ year battle with cancer.
He will be deeply missed by his wife and those that loved him.
Preceded in death by his dad, Billy Watkins; his step-dad, Donnie Thomas; his mother in-law, Varrene Rogers; brother in-laws, Jimmy Powers and Ronnie Stanton.
Survivors include his loving wife, Debbie Watkins; mother, Margie Thomas of Chattsworth, GA; sisters, Sheila (Billy) Samples of Cleveland, TN and Donna (Alan) Fain of Chattsworth, GA; 3 sister in-laws and 1 brother in-law, Pat Stanton, Linda and Bill Graves and Betty Powers all of Athens, TN; daughter Nicole; and Chris Hafley of Athens,TN whom he loved like his own son. Along with many nieces and nephews.
His wife, Debbie, would like to express how deeply touched her and Danny were by the outpouring of prayers, love, laughter, support, words of encouragement and financial help during Danny's illness by Linda and Bill Graves, Pat Stanton, Chris Hafley, Tommy and Lisa Green, who are more like family than friends, Jeff Price, Jeff Withrow and Jake Withrow. A very special Thank you to Pat Stanton for the giving of her time to be with her and Danny the last 6 days of his life. She truly appreciates each and everyone of you and your acts of Christian love will never be forgotten.
Also, a special thank you to all other coworkers and friends, including doctors, practitioners and nurses, who checked on him frequently, your support did not go unnoticed and was a true God Send during Danny's illness.
A memorial service will be held at Companion Funeral and Cremation Service in Athens, TN on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 7pm with Pastor Jerry Stephens officiating. A visitation will be held prior from 5-7pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to help with furneral and medical expenses.
