Danny Espy

Danny, Danny Ray, Darling Dan, Big Papa, Papaw, and to his kids Laura (Nick) Byers, Tina Espy, Amanda (Nathan) Miller and Jerrell Espy he was Daddy, passed away peacefully at his home in Riceville, TN on December 8, 2024 at 58 years old. Danny was born on August 18, 1966 in Birmingham, AL to amazing parents the late Van and Gail Espy.

He is also preceded in death by his beautiful baby girl Melissa Espy, granddaughter Tinzley Rayne, sister Glenda Espy, brother Carlton Espy, grandparents, Charlie and Ruby Henderson, Ed Espy and Lillian King.

Danny worked many years, except for Mondays, in construction before "sittin here looking like this" on the front porch drinking an ice cold Bud Ice. Danny had a sense of humor like no other and was very quick witted. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory a lady that has loved him since she was 15 years old, Lori Spates. His four children Laura (Nick), Tina, Amanda(Nathan) and Jerrell, grandchildren Breonna and Vanessa Byers, Jayden and Gracelyn Sanders and Olivia Davis, Paisley and Declan Miller, and Denver Howell, brother Donny Espy, many nieces and nephews that were very special to him and several cousins that were like siblings.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, December 14, 2025 at the Hubert Fry Center starting at 3pm.
