Cindy Smith

June 30, 1954 — May 11, 2024

Cynthia Louise Smith, 69, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, went to be with her mother, father, and other loved ones on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at around 5:30 PM, from her own bed and home comfortably surrounded by her caretaker and husband Raymond as well as her only son Matthew. Cindy, as she preferred to be called, was a board member for Relay for Life for over a decade and was passionate about helping others from an early age in many different ways. She was a lifelong lover of ALL forms of dancing and even taught several line dance classes throughout her life. Cindy had a career at Dr. Scholl's/Schering Plough/Merck for over 30 years as their production manager. She was a firecracker of a personality and enjoyed all things cowboy, to the degree that she named her son after her childhood hero Matt Dillon from Gunsmoke, while also loving the Halloween and Christmas seasons, decorating for them both enthusiastically. She was passionate about real estate and spent numerous hours transforming houses into homes over the years, including her own.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father Charles Hyde and mother Betty Hyde. She was their only child. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Raymond D. Smith as well as her only son Matthew C. Smith, several cousins, in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will have a celebration of life gathering for her family and friends on Tuesday June, 4, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM to share memories and stories of Cindy and a life lived to the fullest at Companion Funeral Home at 2415 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, TN 37311.
