Clyde Burns

August 18, 1940 — February 26, 2024

Clyde "Spider" Burns, 83, of Niota, went home to be with our Lord, Monday night, February 26, 2024 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family. Spider was born August 18, 1940 in McMinn County where he has lived his whole life.

He was a Livestock or Cattle man most all his life. He loved putting up hay with his son. He enjoyed sitting outside in the sun in his chair in these past few years. He was a member of Union McMinn Church and of Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, a stepdaughter, Lisa Coleman and a great granddaughter, Callie Jordan.

Spider leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Margie Frisbie Burns; son, Mike (Michelle) Burns of Niota; daughter, Susan (Doyle) Coldwell of Riceville; four grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Jordan of Florida, Lindsay (Tyson) Patterson of Benton; Trevor (Krista) Burns of Athens, Hannah Burns of Niota; two great grandchildren, Tucker Patterson, and Tenley Burns.

He had lots of friends to many to mention but Dean Williams was like a son to him. He leaves lots of nieces and nephews, to many to count. He loved his family and loved life.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Companion Funeral & Cremation Service, 410 S. White St., Athens, TN 37303. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Union McMinn Church Cemetery with Pastor Gabe Brannon officiating.
