Clifford Eugene Melton

Clifford Eugene Melton, 84, a lifelong resident of this area passed away on Saturday night, March 26th, 2016 in a Chattanooga, TN hospital. Clifford was born in Birchwood, TN on May 20th, 1931 a son of the late Bill & Ethel Melton. Clifford was an honorable discharged veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired sanitation truck driver with the Hamilton County public works department. Clifford enjoyed fishing, walking and spending time with his grandchildren and family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Vina Melton, one sister Anna Ruth Lee, five brothers Carson, Fred, William Jr., Joe and James and three grandchildren Randy Shipley, Luke Ezell and Megan Paige.
Clifford leaves behind to cherish his memory four children William Melton Sr. (Brenda Hadley), Marie Ezell and husband Paul, Shelia Jeffery and Patsy Shipley (Jim Rogers), daughter in law Connie Melton, grandchildren Joey & Heather Ezell, Jessica Ezell, Debbie Ezell, Brenda & Cody Adcox, Jeanie & Adam Howard, William Jr. & April Melton, Julie Edward, Beth Edward, Ray Shipley, Jennifer & Jeffery Coffey and Shae Jeffrer, twenty one great grandchildren, two brothers David Melton (Marie) and Henry Melton, special sister in law Bonnie Walker, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Tuesday, March 29th, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Terry Walter and the Reverend John Cain officiating. Interment will follow in the Beta Cemetery in Meigs County with Gene Melton, Joey Ezell, Ray Shipley, William Melton, Tyler Cisco, Jeff Coffey and Adam Howard serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlor on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the 2:00 PM service time.
