Cliff Kelly Stansell, Jr. was surrounded by his family and friends when he was called to his eternal home early Friday, January 12, 2024. He was born on June 7, 1953 in Rome, GA. Cliff was a Vietnam Veteran serving on the USS Kitty Hawk. Cliff held several different occupations, but was most known for his flooring installation business locally in Cleveland TN. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his two sons in the woods or on a baseball field, being the coach in both aspects. In 2005, he suffered a tragic motorcycle accident that nearly took his life. Cliff, being the fighter that he was, beat all odds and was back home living his life the way he saw fit. He enjoyed having social gatherings at his residence to spend time with his friends and family. He loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles, collecting antiques, watching football (depending on which family member he was talking to determined who he was pulling for), and cherished his family and close friends more than anything. He was most known and loved for his giving spirit. He will forever be cherished and deeply missed by his family and friends.
Cliff was preceded in death by his father and mother, Cliff Kelly and Dorothy Stansell, Sr. He is survived by his sons Josh Stansell (Julie and Presley Tanner) of Rome, GA and Kel (Kristin) Stansell of Cleveland; sisters Sherry Stansell Waldrop and Nancy Stansell Hayden of Cleveland; brothers Ralph "Buddy" (Barbara) Stansell and James "Butch" (Gail) Stansell of Rome, GA; grandchildren Nate Dupre (Hannah Brown) and Tristan Stansell of Rome, GA, Kellar, Kensley, and Henson Stansell of Cleveland, and Colton Rinehart of Ft. Nieces; Kelli Harless of Fort Olgethorpe GA. Denise Stansell Tiencken (Bill) of Rome GA.; Great nieces and nephews Kristen Helms, Caitlin Tiencken, Ansley (Nic) Snowden, Lawson Stansell, and Charlie Harless. The family has chosen to do a remembrance of life celebration at a later date. This celebration date, time, and location will be sent out at a later date determined by weather conditions. The family also requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. www.support.woundedwarriorproject.com
