Chris Arlie Baker

March 28, 1975 — June 7, 2019

Christopher Arlie Baker, 44, of Athens, TN, passed away on Friday, June 7th, 2019. Born March 28, 1975, Chris, a lifelong resident of Athens, always brought with him lots of laughs, a ballcap to cover his bald head (that he swears was caused by his daughter dating), and a pair of ratty Nike flipflops no one could convince him to replace. He was charismatic and brought joy to many, especially during his time as an SRO Officer at E. K. Baker School. He was a father who was both loving and teasing, calling his children silly nicknames and scaring them any chance he could. He loved to drive around listening to Eminem and seeing how loud he could turn up the radio before someone complained. He had his flaws, as most of us do, but we wish to remember his memory in this way.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Jean ‘Nancy’ Baker (Davis), two cousins (who were more like siblings), Tammy Renee Nichols and Greg Nichols, and his great grandparents Jack and Betty Davis. He is survived by his father, Troy Daniel ‘Danny’ Baker, his daughter and her husband, Kelsey and Luis Munoz, his sons and their wives, Tristin and Renee Baker, Tanner and Brook Roberts, and Garrett Baker (one day, Garrett, one day), one granddaughter, Amelia Munoz, his brother and wife, Jeff and Paula Baker, niece Emily Baker, cousins Gregory Kimpson, Jamie and Jason Smock, aunt and uncle Phyllis and Doug Nichols, as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and in-laws. He also had more friends than can be named (there isn’t enough room in the paper).
Chris was the life of the party wherever he went but did not want a party when he was gone. He asked to be cremated and split amongst his children and two special locations. A memorial service will be held privately with family to celebrate the man we lost.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Shatterproof, The Herren Project, or the National Stroke Association.
You are encouraged to share a memory of Chris and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial web page and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home of Athens is honored to assist his family with these arrangements.
