Chester Eugene Jenkins

Chester Eugene Jenkins, 74, of Cleveland, TN passed away on September 21, 2017. He was born on December 16, 1942 to the late James Leonard and Nora F, “Polly” McKinney Jenkins. Chester was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, except for the years he traveled with the United States Army. Chester was very devoted to his country retiring with 25 years of service. He served in two tours of Vietnam and one with Desert Storm, achieving many accolades along the way. Chester also enjoyed fishing on the Hiwassee River and was an avid golfer, even placing 6th at a BMW Golf Tournament in Portugal.
In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his stepfather R. L. Shelton and sister Tina King.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 48 years, Margaret Jenkins; sons Kipp Eugene Jenkins and Chester Ryan Jenkins (Jaclyn); step brother Robby Shelton; sisters: Karen Jenkins McCullough (Rick) and Arlene Jenkins Johns (Jerry); stepsister Kathy Miller; grandchildren: Riley Eugene Jenkins, Christopher Ryan Jenkins, Jodie DeeAnn Jenkins, and Kendal Danielle Jenkins; great grandson Noah David Jenkins. In addition to these, Chester leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday September 24, 2017 at Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday September 25, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Fort Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
