Charlotte "Kay" Carroll Suits

Charlotte “Kay” Carroll Suits, of Cleveland, TN, passed away peacefully, January 26, 2022, at the age of 83 at her son Mike’s residence in Decatur, GA, where she lived peacefully and comfortably for two and a half years. She was a member of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Robert Suits, Mike Suits and his partner Steve King, and Lamar Suits and his wife Liberty; grandchildren, Nathan Suits and his wife Kelly, Jason Suits and girlfriend Cassie, Lauren Young, and Kayla Suits; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Suits, Sara Kate Suits, Taylor Hardin, and Madison Suits; several sisters and a brother, Gloria Cameron Croft (Doodle), Barbara (Jack) Duggan, Betty Benker, Evelyn Jones, Don (Shirley) Carroll, Crystal Van Huff, Edna (Jim) Polier, Norma Delay, and Sandra (Andy) Caswell; two special friends Martha Ledford and Joyce Hall.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Bob Suits; parents, James Lee and Anna Lee McCamish Carroll; sister, Francis Owens and brother, Roger Carroll.

She loved to tell stories about her dad’s business, “Carroll Coal Company” and how they used to deliver coal to needy families. Kay worked many years with her sister Evelyn at Spring place House of Furniture. She loved going to flea markets and yard sales. According to her sons, she made the best fudge and spoon pies ever. Kay enjoyed playing the piano and singing gospel songs.

Her and her husband Bob had a huge heart for the homeless and less fortunate. For many years, they would buy presents throughout the year and especially at Christmas. Mike, her son, tells us a great account of her seeing homeless people on the side of the road and buying them coats and food.

In her later years she loved going out to dance functions with her sister Gloria. Kay lived a simple yet full life.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM-8:00 PM, Friday, January 28, 2022, at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church. A celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Companion Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Vaughn officiating. Kay will be laid to rest with her husband of 56 years, Bob Suits at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, TN, after the service.
