Charlotte Elaine Jackson

November 20, 1956 — January 10, 2018

Charlotte Elaine Jackson 61 passed away at her Niota home on 1-10-2018. She had fought a long complicated battle with Cancer for the last 18 months. Her devoted Husband attended to her final days and was present at her passing. She bravely addressed her condition and remained a fighter to the end. She did not complain.

Charlotte was a Nurse for 40 years, at various cities, as she followed her husbands employment. She had a reputation of being a sweet person with kind eyes, warm smile and caring attitude to those around her. Her kindness expressed itself in many ways. She enjoyed fund raising for various worthwhile causes. On her whimsical side she enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and bringing fun to the Holidays. She did this for her patients and friends enjoyment , as well as her own.

Born and raised in Athens, Tennessee she leaves behind her parents Jimmy and Imogene O'Daniel. She was a young tomboy and Scout who often told of her adventures in her childhood. Enjoyed skiing at the lake and summer camping and those memories she cherished.

As She grew up and married she continued the pleasures of the outdoors. Her and her family often visited areas on the west coast Mt. Hood , Mt St. Helens, Lake Tahoe and many other educational and beautiful sites as she crisscrossed the Country. Places too many to name. She obviously enjoyed nature and took pleasure in the wild animals who called our acreage home. She also enjoyed music and art. Values she instilled in her daughter as well. She fished the Hiawassee. Learned to Kayak with her friends. She was as kind to animals as she was to people.

Her final canine companion was a Wire Haired Griffon. A hunting dog that never hunted but surprised Charlotte by bring home snakes much to Charlottes consternation. She loved Zoe with all her heart and that love was returned greatly. Zoe sensed , from the start, of Charlottes illness and her attention and concern was clear to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her Husband of 33 years Mark Jackson. A daughter Heather Lain and her husband Jared. A brother Harold O'Daniel. Aunt Roxie O'Daniel. Uncle Tommy O'Daniel and wife Karen. Uncle Lonnie Walker and wife Diane. Cousin Douglas O'Daniel. She also had step sisters and brothers. Carla Fields , Tommy, Paul , Johnny and Terry Hughes.

It is impossible to list and acknowledge all her friends and extended family, as they are legion, without a error on our part. We thank all of you for being her friend. Special mention should be made to Cheryl Kocon, Crystal Hudgins and everyone at Starr Regional Nursing Home for their support and friendship. We appreciate her care givers Dr. Samuel Olsen and staff, Dr. Miller and staff at Starr Oncology, UT hospital and Athens Regional Radiation Therapy. All who treated her like family.

Charlottes wishes were to be cremated with no formal service. We honored that request. Remember her as she was and that is the memories she wants to leave you with. Pray for her on her new journey. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society would be the families wishes.
You are encouraged to share a memory of Charlotte and/or your personal condolences with her family by visiting her memorial web page and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral Home and the Cody family are honored to assist the Jackson family with her arrangements.
