Charles Cockburn

Charles Stanley Cockburn, 73, a lifelong resident of Cleveland TN passed away Wednesday afternoon Oct 18, 2023 at home. He was born in Cleveland TN Oct 31, 1949. Charles grew up in Teenga Ga and attended Murray County High School. He became a resident of Cleveland TN after attending Lee College and was employeed at Whites/Coast to Coast Home and Auto for more than 25 years. He later retired from Cormetech as a lab technician. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast, fisherman, and hunter.

Charles was preceded by his loving wife of 45 years Byrnie Richards Cockburn, his parents Ted Cockburn and Tommy Hicks Sluder, and his sister Martha Shoemaker. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughter Christie McElhaney and her spouse Terry, step-daughter Lori Kibler, grandchildren Kyndall and Ryan McElhaney. He is survived by two special nieces Maria Gilley and her spouse Michael and Celina Pastrana and two nephews Jeff Shoemaker and Jeremy Shoemaker.

A celebration of life is planned for Monday night October 23, 2023 at 7:00pm in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, TN. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlor from 5:00 pm until the 7:00pm service time.
