Cecilia Gustafson

Cecilia Frances Brooks Gustafson, age 76, of Summertown, TN, passed away on her birthday Friday, January 19 2024 at Tennova Medical Center in Cleveland, TN. She was a native of Lawrence County, TN where she graduated from Summertown High School in 1966. In her spare time, she was a passionate writer and published author of short stories and poems, devoted animal lover and caretaker, Native American historian, and enjoyed the study of American fossils.

She was a dedicated and loving mother who raised five children as a single parent and a proud veteran who served our country during the Vietnam era. She loved her family, friends and community and always stood by the principles of forgiveness, kindness and love, which was fostered by her steadfast Christian faith. Cecilia loved adventure and experiencing life with hope and laughter. She impacted many lives with positive teachings and philosophy and will be missed.

Some of her favorite things included Road trips, Philosophy, Flowers and Gardening, Old westerns, Her dog Flip, Fox news, Horses, Dogs and musicians like John Denver, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Crosby Stills and Nash.

Cecilia is preceded in death by her Father, Cecil Brooks; Mother, Evelyn Brooks; Brother, Ronnie Brooks, Son, Mark Gustafson; Grandson, Dillan Gustafson.

She is survived by her Daughter, Dawn Douden; Sons, Eric Gustafson, Brian Gustafson, and Aaron Gustafson; Son in Law, Don Douden Jr; Daughter in Law, Kessarin Gustafson; nine grandchildren Katie (Jordan Langford), Nathan, Josh, Courtney, Nicholas, Chase, Damon, Jake and Amelia and three great grandchildren Elijah, Emma and Scott; Brother, Lee Brooks (Judy Brooks); Niece, Julee Hill; and Nephew, Adam Brooks.

Visitation will be held at the Companion Funeral Chapel in Cleveland, TN on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm

A celebration of life service will be held at the Companion Funeral Chapel in Cleveland, TN on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with graveside service immediately following at Lee cemetery in Mc Donald, TN.
