Cecil A. `` Tank“ Brown, 66, Dec. 25, 1956, departed from his earthly home on March 31, 2023. Cecil was preceded in death by sister, Gladys Rogenia Brown, mother, Waltina Louise Lyons, wife, Jannie Goley Brown, and father, Cecil A. Brown, Sr. He is survived by brothers, Marlon “Bubba“ Brown and Reginald Brown as well as step sons William and Jason Goley( Isaiah Russell) . He also leaves behind a niece, Marla Louise Brown and nephews,Reginald Isaac Brown II and Ethan Uriah Brown ( Sonya Thomas-Brown) .
Cecil was a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church in Loudon, Tennessee. He worked as a mail handler for the Department of Energy for many years. He graduated from Loudon High School to attend Hiwassee College. He graduated from Tusculum College.
Cecil was known as “Tank” for his large stature. Despite his size, he was a member of the LHS Tennis Team and LHS Basketball team. He spent many summer nights playing men’s softball all over the south. He loved all sports and was known for his love of the University of Tennessee Volunteers.
Cecil had a unique sense of humor. He was known for his personality and ability to connect to others with his stories. He was loved by everyone who knew him.
He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, father figure, and grandfather. He was a great friend and mentor to so many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverview Missionary Baptist Church in Lenoir City, Tennessee on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Service will begin at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Companion Funeral Home in Athens, Tennessee to assist with costs of this sudden loss.
