Carroll Sonny Pitman

Obituary
Carroll Sonny Pitman, 67, a resident of Cleveland passed away at his home on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Sonny was born on February 12, 1944 in Bakersville, NC the youngest of seven children to the late Lon and Nell Pitman.
He co-owned water professionals with his wife for 28 years. After retirement, he spent most of his time writhing books and published" Faith Robbers" in 2009, which is currently in its 3rd edition. Sonny loved to travel and often spent months on the road visiting as many natural parks as possible. He was a student of god's word, a naturalist, staunch republican and animal lover to the core. He will be greatly missed by all of the lives he touched. Over the last year, he devoted most of his free time to helping his son and in any capacity he could at Axis Roofing.
In addition to his parents Sonny is also preceded in death by two brothers Jack Pitman and Fred Pitman and one sister Ruth Whiting.
Sonny is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth of 45 years, one son Jason Pitman and wife Jamie and was grandfather to their children Jayce, Sydney and expected grandchild in July, and his favorite and only daughter Amanda DeZoort and her husband David of Chattanooga TN. He also leaves to cherish his memory two sisters and their husbands Ruby Buchanan (Howard) of Bakersville, NC, Jean Freeman (Joel) of Greer, SC and one brother Wade Pitman of Bakersville, NC.
A memorial service is being planned for Friday, February 10, 2012 at 4:00 PM in the Dixon Chapel of the North Cleveland Church of God located at 355 11th Street, Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Gary Sears officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the service on Friday at the Dixon Chapel.
