Carolyn S. Thomas

Carolyn S. Thomas 92, lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN passed way at her home on Thursday evening June 4, 2020.

Carolyn was born May 5, 1928 to the late Clifford and Hattie Hargis Sharpe. She was a member of the North Cleveland Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, Cleveland Chapter. She was an avid seamstress and actually taught sewing at the Singer Sewing Company for many years. She enjoyed bowling, camping and cooking, but above all loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James F. Thomas, special mother-in-law Mary Thomas Bryan, 3 brothers, Donald Sharpe, Eddie and Kenneth Sharp, grandmother who raised her- Carrie Wilhelmina Hargis, grandfather William Jesse Hargis.

She leaves her children behind to cherish her memory; Randy Thomas, Scott Thomas and his wife Phyllis who was Carolyn’s primary caregiver for many years and saw to all of her needs, daughter Trudy Mader (Chuck) of Nashville, grandchildren; Chris Thomas, Will Mader, great grandchildren; Maranda Parker, Robert and Gabriel Goodner, Hunter, Ava and Tucker Thomas, sisters-in-laws Barbara Beaty and Glenda Sharp, as well as several nieces Judy Hilton, Linda Shoemaker, Donna Dorsey, Angie MacArthur & Mary Anne Adams, nephew Kenny Sharp and cousins Dorothy Howell-TN, Carolyn Oldham-NC, Clara McClure-IL, Mary Elaine Pryse-TN, Nancy Crews- NC and William Wallace – OH.

The family is planning a graveside service on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Lower Spring Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery in McMinn County with the Reverend Kevin Wilson officiating. The family will meet at the Cleveland chapel of Companion Funeral Home on Friday at 12:15 PM and leave for the graveside service at 12:30 PM.
