Obituary

Carol V. Gates, 85, of Cleveland, TN passed away on June 14, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 12, 1929 to the late Joe Lee and Nina White. Carol was lifelong resident of this area and spent her time loving and caring for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother who loved her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered as a free hearted person who would always give to anyone in need.

In addition to her mother and father she is preceded in death by her husband Ed Gates; two brothers Bill and John White; five sisters: Margret Shirk, Beulah Johnson, Marie Moser, Blanch Depty, and Ruby Miller.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory five children: Linda Mooneyhan (David), Ollie Hall (Donnie), Nancy Dawkins (Randy), Eddie Gates, and Victoria Gates; one sister Edith Best; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to these, she leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday June 18, 2014 at Washington Ave. Baptist Church located at 1720 Perry Street SE, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Rev. Beecher White and Rev. Ricky Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow the service in Mt. Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 17, 2014 from 4:30-8:00pm at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
