Carlos Humberto Porras December 3, 1948 – March 10, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Carlos Humberto Porras. On March 10, 2025, at the age of 76, Carlos passed away peacefully at his home in Sweetwater, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 3, 1948, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Carlos lived a life defined by love, dedication, and integrity. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Olga Porras, along with his children Giovanni Porras, Bessie Perez, Carlos Porras, and Karla Cervantes. Carlos was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy, love, and purpose to his life. Spending time with them meant the world to him, bringing him endless joy and cherished moments that he held close to his heart.
Carlos dedicated over 40 years of his career to Honda Motors before retiring. As the first immigrant from Guatemala to bring his family to the United States, he paved the way for future generations, instilling in them the values of perseverance and hard work. His commitment to providing and caring for his loved ones was unwavering and deeply admired.
A man of many passions, Carlos had an affinity for cars and motorcycles, indulged in vacations during his youth, and enjoyed Western books and films. His creativity blossomed in his garden and through various crafting hobbies, where his attention to detail shone brightly. Carlos also loved to learn to play the ukulele, embracing the challenge with enthusiasm and filling his home with the cheerful strumming of new melodies. Known for his protective nature and serious demeanor, Carlos had a surprising ability to lighten moments with spontaneous joy, leaving cherished memories with his loved ones.
Carlos will be remembered for his steadfast love for his family, his life-long work ethic, and his legacy of integrity and warmth.
A memorial service will be held at his home in Sweetwater, Tennessee, on March 29th at 5:00 PM. Family and friends will gather to honor his memory by lighting and releasing lanterns. Carlos Humberto Porras will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and friends. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved him.
