Carlos Elmore Whitmire Jr.

Carlos E. Whitmire Jr., 73, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN passed away early Saturday morning, October 8th, 2016 at Erlanger Medical Center. He was born on December 4th, 1942 a son of the late Carlos Sr. & Evealeen Whitmire. Carlos was a 1960 graduate of Bradley Central High School. He was a member of the National Guard. Carlos was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church and retired from the Maytag Corporation after 40 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing and enjoying his 1955 Chevy. Above all, Carlos was a devoted and loving husband , father and grandfather.
Carlos leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of almost fifty four years Judy Rosser Whitmire, one son and daughter-in-law Keith & Eleanor Whitmire, two granddaughters who were his pride and joy Shelbie Whitmire and Kelsey Whitmire and one sister Janice Summers and her husband Steve. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Wednesday, October 12th, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Daniel Malone officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Ernest Droke, Teddy Lewis, Gene Hysinger, Eddie Goins, Shane Pierce and Larry Mull serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, October 11th, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also on Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the funeral home parlor.
The family request the in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Big Springs Baptist Church in memory of Carlos.
