Carl Rue

Carl Vernon Rue, 83, of Athens TN, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023, following a long illness, at his residence in Athens.

He was born on February 21, 1940 in Athens to the late Austin and Pearl Rue. He was a Decorated Veteran of the US Army and Vietnam War and a member of the Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Linda (Nelson) Rue; brother Austin Rue Jr.; sisters, Frances Rinehart, Viola Wilcox, Diana Wheaton; brother, Danny Rue.

Carl is survived by his loving son, Charles "Chuck" (Jackie) Rue; daughter, Carla Rue; grandsons, Christopher Rue (fiance, Stephanie), Gregory Rue; several great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren; sister in- law, Erma Rue; nephews, Billy (Mandy) Handy, Steven (Carmen) Handy; nieces, Francine (Jeff) Hicks, Dana Evans, Debbie (Curtis) Johnson and special thanks to Jeanne Rue for helping take care of him for the past few months and other extended family members.

Please Join us at Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle in Riceville on Friday Jan. 5, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm for visitation, and Saturday Jan. 6th at 1:00 pm for the Funeral Service.
