C. Eugene "Gene" Lawson

Clenton Eugene”Gene” Lawson also know by many as “The Tile Man”, age 83, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on Tuesday afternoon, January 10th, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Gene was born on December 12th, 1933 in Cleveland, TN a son of the late Lake & Dessie Lawon. He was a member of Chilcutt United Methodist Church. Gene was the founder and owner of Lawson Tile Company. He laid ceramic tile in Cleveland and the surrounding areas for 63 plus years. In addition to his many tile creations, Gene loved gardening, woodworking and anything that involved using his hands to create something. He was not afraid of hard work in the least.

In addition to his parents, he joins in his Heavenly home, his beloved loved wife Mrytle who just recently passed on December 27th, 2016, one son Gary Lawson, one granddaughter Kristy Lawson and one brother Clyde Lawson.

Eugene leaves behind to cherish his memory one son Ronnie Lawson and his wife Sherry, four grandchildren Nicole Lawson Hugdins (Reagon), Tabitha Lawson Roblyer (Doug), Joshua Clinton Lawson and Hunter K. M. Lawson (Hope) and three great grandchildren Domiano, Skyler (whom he thought of as his pride and joy) and Paxton. He is also survived by special friends Connie Lawson and Jim Lincoln along with numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. The family would like to say a special thank you to Lora Baker from Hearth Hospice for the excellent care given to both Mrytle and Eugene.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the parlor of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, TN. A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at 2:30 PM in the sanctuary of Chilcutt United Methodist Church located 689 Chilcutt Road NE in Cleveland, TN with Chaplin Marv Eskew officiating. Interment will follow in the Chilcutt United Methodist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

In lieu, of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made in Eugene’s memory to either Hearth Hospice or to the Chilcutt UMC Church Cemetery fund.
