Billie McNelley

Billie Jean McNelley, 81, of Athens, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. She was born to the late Jim and Ruth Martin and was one of 17 siblings. Billie lived a life full of love, resilience, and devotion to her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby McNelley; her cherished daughter, Debbie McNelley Charles; and her precious grandson, Dillion Charles.

Billie is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Greg) Hicks, and her son, Ricky (Deann) McNelley. She was the proud grandmother of Crystal (David) Schrimpsher, Haley McNelley, Lakkin McNelley, Bailey Hicks, and Cameron Erwin. Her love extended to her six great-grandchildren: Savannah Collins, Brayden Charles, Raiden McNelley, Madelyn Schrimpsher, Jonah Schrimpsher, and Kenden Charles, who were the light of her life.

Known for her selflessness and inner strength, Billie was always putting the needs of others before her own. Family was at the heart of everything she did, and her deep love for her family was evident in every moment she spent with them.

Billie will be remembered as a strong, loving, and giving woman who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her memory will be treasured, and her absence deeply felt-but we can rejoice in knowing that she has received her ultimate healing and is walking the streets of heaven.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 6, at 3:00 p.m. at Sullins Cemetery.
