Bienvenido Fortunato Rosario was born in the city of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic on March 19, 1933. Son of Elena Rosario and Celedonio Fortunato, fourth child of six siblings: Pablo, Rosa, Nila, Dilia and Alfonso.
He received God's call to serve as a Colporteur for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Central Dominican Conference. His desire for others to know about Jesus led him to different parts of the country preaching and establishing Adventist Churches in towns like Pedernales, Las Matas de Farfán, Elías Pińa and in sectors of Santo Domingo. Through his testimony, many people came to know Jesus, because even a pastor from another religious denomination with his entire church became Saturday keepers and members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The writer Nicolás Chaij in his book "Maravillas del Portage" recounts beautiful experiences of how Bienvenido Fortunato in his work of preaching the gospel through books and magazines walked protected by angels. Even in the last days of his life, Bienvenido experienced an indescribable peace, that peace that only God can give. He now sleeps in Jesus, but very soon God will raise him up. As a family, we ask God to help us be faithful to see our father rise when Christ returns to find us.
“Just as we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also God will raise up with Jesus those who died in him.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14)
