June 30, 1939 — March 29, 2025

Beverly Ann Davis, a retired piano teacher in Oak Ridge, passed away on March 29, 2025. She was 85 years old. Born June 30, 1939, in Winsted, Connecticut, to mother, Ann M. Peterson and father, Walter K. Peterson, she grew up in Colebrook, Connecticut. She graduated in 1957 from Gilbert High School in Winsted, Connecticut. She maintained some high school friendships over the years, including attending her 50th class reunion in 2007.

After high school, Bev attended Boston University, where she majored in music and English. She was a member of Delta Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta. Following graduation, she worked for several years as a customer service representative for the New England Telephone Company in Boston. After marrying Richard M. Davis on October 12, 1963, they moved to Enfield, Connecticut. Their daughter, Sandra Lynn Davis, was born in 1966 at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.

Before settling in Oak Ridge, they moved to Columbus, Ohio, where their son, Richard Jr., was born in 1970. After moving to Oak Ridge, Bev became involved in Camp Fire Girls and other youth-centered activities. She and Richard were very active in their church, First United Methodist Church. She served on social committees and several other church activities, taught Sunday school, kindergarten through high school, and played piano at worship and fellowship events.

Bev was also chairwoman of the Library Committee. For several years, Bev was a teaching assistant at the Oak Ridge High School Band Department. She taught piano lessons for many years until her retirement in 2006.

Bev was passionate about gardening and spent hours searching plant catalogs in preparation for planting each spring. Bev was a creative person. She painted everything from small gift items to murals on her grandchildren's bedroom walls. She knitted prayer shawls and sweaters for all the grandkids. Bev completed many cross-stitch projects, which she called needlework painting. In her spare time, she was an avid puzzler.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Davis; daughter, Sandra (Marcus) Pelletier; son Richard Jr. (Heather) Davis and grandchildren Jacob Davis, Justin Davis, Kate Davis, Nicholas Pelletier, and Hanna Pelletier.

Services for Bev will be held at First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge on Sunday, June 1, beginning with the receiving of friends at 1 pm.
