Betty Porter

Betty Sue Porter, a beloved member of the Cleveland community, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2023, at the age of 79. She was born on November 24, 1943, in Old Fort, Tennessee, to her loving parents James and Grace Sampson.

Betty led a fulfilling life, always cherishing the simple joys and making lasting memories. After graduating from Bradley Central High School. Alongside her husband, she owned Buddy's Drive-In, a cherished local establishment that served delicious food and created lasting connections with the community.

Retiring from Elastic Yarns, Betty dedicated her time to her cherished grandchildren, affectionately known as her "Dumplins." Family meant everything to her, and she showered her children, Julie Dempsey and Bobby Porter (Kristy), with unconditional love and support. Betty was known for her warm smile, caring nature, and undying devotion to her family.

In addition to her children, Betty is survived by her grandchildren: Megan Burger (Justin), Brandon Bowen (Geneva), Victor Porter, and Nikola Porter. Her great-grandchildren, Gracie Burger, Mason Burger, Morgan Bowen, and Brody Dempsey, brought immeasurable joy to her life. Betty also leaves behind her siblings, Wilma McKinney and David Sampson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate Betty's remarkable life will be held at the Companion Funeral & Cremation Service in Cleveland on October 23, 2023, beginning with visitation at 1:00 pm. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects and share fond memories of Betty. A heartfelt ceremony honoring her life will commence at 3:00 pm. Following the service, Betty will be laid to rest at the Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery beside her husband Buford Porter.

As we gather to bid farewell to our dear Betty, let us remember her infectious laughter, kind heart, and unwavering love. She will forever be missed and forever remain in our hearts as a reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived.
