Obituary

Betty Lumpkin of Ooltewah, TN. On June 5, 2014, God took Betty Lou Stewart Lumpkin home to be His special angel. Born in Anniston, Alabama, Betty became a 52 year resident of Chattanooga along with her surviving husband of 60 years, Roy “Pete” Lumpkin, Jr. Betty attended Auburn University and received a degree from UTC in secondary education and a master’s degree from MTSU in aerospace education. She served more than 40 years in the Hamilton County school system.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her mother, Mabel A. Ogburn, son, John D. Lumpkin, grandchildren, Chad H. Lumpkin, Sean D. Lumpkin, Jenna K. Lumpkin, and Josh K. Lumpkin and cousins, Martha Akers and Lamar Pace.

A memorial service honoring Betty’s Christian walk will be conducted on Tuesday, June 10, at 7:00 p.m. at Hickory Valley Christian Church, 6605 Shallowford Rd., Chattanooga, TN, 37421.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest a gift to Hickory Valley Christian Church or to Mountain View Christian Church, 9118 Snow Hill Road, Ooltewah, TN, 37363.
