Betty Guthrie Sneed

February 18, 1939 — November 14, 2019

Betty Guthrie Sneed, 80, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at her home. She was born in Cleveland, TN on February 18, 1939 a daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Zora Jenkins Guthrie. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland and was retired from Magic Chef/Maytag after 36 years of faithful service.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-three years Verlin Sneed, brothers Roy, Paul and Benny Guthrie, sister Evelyn Moore and sisters-in-laws Thelma and Connie Guthrie and Mary Elizabeth Knott.
Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory one son and daughter-in-law Stephen & Fina Sneed and one granddaughter Sofia Sneed all of Aliso Viejo, CA, brother James Guthrie of Dalton, GA, sisters-in-laws Mary Guthrie of Cleveland, Jean Guthrie of Rogersville, TN, Joyce O’Neal of Cleveland and Betty (Ken) Black of Vicksburg, MS, brothers-in-laws Charles Moore of Cleveland, Ralph (Linda) Sneed of Cleveland and Charles Knott of North Little Rock, AK, nieces Jackie (Scott) McDonald of Cleveland, Melody (Brian) Deverall of Cohutta, GA, Katherine O’Neal of Cleveland, Carla Knott (German) Torrijos of Fayetteville, AR and Beth Sneed (Dale) Rose of Buford, GA, nephews Tom (Connie) Guthrie of Amissville, VA, Ken (Becky) Guthrie of Cleveland, Dean Guthrie of Surgoinsville, TN, Keith Beck of Hawkinsville, GA, Michael (Ann) Black of Jackson, MS, Jeff (Christy) Knott of Nashville, TN and Chris (Gabi) Black of Kirkwood, MO, numerous great nieces and nephew and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Cleveland. A celebration of her life service will follow at 3:00 PM with the Reverend Rusty Asble and the Reverend Tom Wickes officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with nephews serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made in Betty’s memory to the FBC Library, Manna Ministry or Generations Fund.
