Betty Berry, 94, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at a local healthcare facility. She moved from Bogalusa Louisiana in the 1950’s to Cleveland, TN. Betty was a member of Wesley Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting, avid reader, traveling, playing cards with the card club and spending time with her grandchildren. Betty was a girl scout leader and worked at Cleveland State when it first opened.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Berry, who was the boy next door; parents, J. Russell Cooper and Annie Elizabeth Lowery Cooper; sister, Louise Cooper, and son-in-law, Robert Jacob.
Survived by her son, David Berry; daughters, Sharon Jacob, Janet (Tim) Childrey and Jean (Hank, II) Hale; sister-in-law, Ruth Dunaway with whom she was very close and like a sister; 10 grandchildren, Debbie (Buddy) Craft, Vickie Jacob, Russell (Jennifer) Berry, Matthew Berry, Keith (Nicole) Childrey, Brooke (Tyler) Erreger, Kirstin Bradshaw, Hank Hale, III, Jack Hale and Kate Hale; 4 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday February 23, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Gardens from 1:00-2:00 PM and a service to follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Guinn Green officiating. Grandsons will serve as Pall Bearers.
