Betsy Gail Clayton, 54, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025. She was born in Jackson, TN and moved to Cleveland in 2013.
Betsy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and a source of light and love within her family. She met her husband, James, while working as a preschool teacher, which she continued to do for many years. Her love for children was never-ending, and it was not uncommon for her to bring children home, offering them a safe and caring environment. Betsy was a loving homemaker, making her home a place filled with warmth, kindness, and love. She was the glue that kept her family connected and lit up the lives of all who knew her. She offered support to anyone in need, especially children, and she cared for numerous family members throughout her life. She was always the first to listen, offer help, and provide comfort.
Her faith in God shined through in her every action, and she lived her life with grace, compassion, and a heart full of love. Betsy was the embodiment of a kind soul, and her legacy of love and support will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to be a part of her life. She kept her family connected, preserving the stories, traditions, and recipes passed down through generations.
Betsy was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, her father, James Terry Henry, and her son, Benjamin Clayton.
She leaves behind to cherish in her memory her loving husband of 32 years, James Clayton; her children, Blake, Nicholas, Lucas, and Jacob Clayton; her precious grandchildren, Bodie and Neyland Clayton; mother, Barbara Henry; brother, Brian Henry; and several other family members.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home, located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A celebration of Betsy's life will be held in Jackson, TN, with details to be announced at a later date.
