Becky Lyn Gray, 68, of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Becky was born on July 14, 1954 in Marion, Illinois to the late James “Bud” and Melva “Nadine” Moore.
She loved working with kids. She is known to hundreds of Bradley County residents as the lovable Miss Becky. Miss Becky was the long time program director for the Bradley County Sports for Youth Baseball program on Urbane Road from the early 1990s-2010s. After spending years on the field, she moved into the classroom. She was a favorite substitute teacher with Bradley County Schools where she worked nearly every day at Ocoee Middle School from 2001 until she retired in 2018. In her down time, she loved to travel. Her favorite destinations were to the beach, Civil War battle fields, and wherever her grandbabies were. She was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs baseball club, crime/suspense novels, and her guilty pleasure was watching the reality show Big Brother and live Court TV trials. She was passionate in anything that her family was involved in and she was always ready to jump in with both feet to help. She also had a distinct knack at roping in others to help too, whether you wanted to or not. She was a leader, a motivator, and a passionate advocate for children and veterans alike.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Elijah and Edna Moore; and her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Pauline Hawkins.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Billy “Bill” Gray; children, Stacey (James) Ridgell, Amanda “Mandy” (Matthew) Peticolas, James “Jimmy” (China) Gray; her grandchildren, Jeni (Mason) Boomer, Cera Peticolas, Dakota “Kody” Peticolas, Amber Ridgell, Stanley “Seb” Brotherton III, and Gabriel “Gabe” Brotherton; her brother, Ronald “Ron” (Rebecca) Moore; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland at 12:00 pm with pastor Patrick Wooden officiating.
