Beatrice Irene Walker

Beatrice Irene Walker, 84, passed peacefully on August 8th, 2023, in Chattanooga, Tennessee Best known by her friends and family as Irene, she was born on July 26th, 1939 in Ooltewah, Tennessee.

Irene was preceded in passing by her loving parents, Homer and Edith Pyburn, her dear husband Carl Walker, son Danny Banther, grandson Craig Wilson, and her cherished sisters, Dorothy Sims, Mildred Leffew, Christine Potts, and Cathy Foss. She leaves behind a legacy of love within her surviving family, which includes her devoted children, Wayne Banther and Janie, Walter Banther, Susie and Gary Wilson, Norma Pritchard and Kim. A cherished grandmother, Irene is also survived by her eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind her loving sisters, Imogene Neely, Carrie Harvey, and Louise Sutton, as well as her brothers Charles Pyburn, and Junior Pyburn.

She will be remembered fondly not only as a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, but as a firm pillar of strength, and a source of unfaltering love and encouragement.

Those who had the privilege to know Irene knew that her love knew no bounds. Her heart was always open, her door always welcoming. She was the embodiment of kindness and compassion; a living testimony to the power of love and the strength of family.

Her service will be held at the Bancroft Church of God, located at 803 Bancroft Road, McDonald, TN, on Monday, August 14th at 2 pm. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 2 pm on the same day. A graveside service will take place following the service at Ooltewah Cemetery. Honoring Irene as pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, her son-in-law, grandsons Curtis Banther, Travis Wilson, Robert Banther, Shane Banther, and Gary Banther with pastor Jeff Kesley to officiate.
