In Loving Memory of Barbara Joyce Whorley

Barbara Joyce Whorley - known to all who loved her simply as Joyce - was called home to Jesus on April 6, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 1, 1946, in Athens, Tennessee, Joyce's life was filled with family, friendship, hard work, laughter, and an unshakable spirit.

A proud graduate of Meigs County High School, Class of 1965, Joyce married Paul Curtis Whorley in 1966, beginning a lifelong journey of love and family together. Joyce's greatest pride and joy was her found in her precious sons. She & Paul welcomed Kurt in 1968 and Keith in 1970. Paul & Joyce were married for nearly 50 years, until his passing in 2016.

Joyce worked for many years at M&M Mars in Cleveland, Tennessee, where her strong work ethic and bright personality left a lasting impression on her co-workers and friends. She retired in 2000, having built both a career and a circle of cherished connections.

Joyce was a woman of deep faith and a long-time member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, where she found fellowship, strength, and lifelong friendships.

Outside of work and church, Joyce lived life to the fullest and embraced the simple joys that made every day meaningful. She could often be found searching for treasures at flea markets, crocheting, or enjoying a round of bingo with friends. She loved sitting on her front porch swing, soaking in the fresh air and the peacefulness around her. Some of her most treasured memories were made while traveling to Gulf Shores with her beloved companion Raymond Monday.

Joyce will be remembered by all who knew her as fun-loving, spirited, generous, sassy, feisty, strong-willed, and hardworking - a woman who met life with open arms, a warm heart, and a spark that never dimmed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Curtis Whorley; her parents, George & Betty Lynn; and her sister, Charlotte (Eddie) Armour.

Joyce's love lives on in her sons, Kurt (Rose) Whorley and Keith (Leslie) Whorley; her brothers Nelson Ed (Mona) Lynn and Joe (Sandy) Lynn; and her loving sister Tricia (CL) Hall, whose care and devotion in Joyce's final days will never be forgotten.

She is also remembered by her grandchildren Holly (Mike) McChesney and Austin Whorley, her beloved great-granddaughters, her nieces and nephews Todd Lynn, Melissa (Buddy) Mitchell, Tracey Armour, Mitch Armour, Brandy (Chris) Baucom, her special friend and beloved companion Raymond Monday.

Joyce's legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time), followed by a brief memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.

Joyce always said: "This isn't goodbye, this is 'See you later.' "

Until we meet again, Joyce will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
