Barbara Janet Sisk, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday evening, August 30, 2024, at the age of 76.
Barbara was born on February 12, 1948, in Crockett, Texas, to Theo and Irene Graham. She graduated from Crockett High School in 1966, where during her senior year she was the choreographer and captain of her school's drill team as well as homecoming queen. Barbara attended and graduated from Jacksonville Baptist College where she met and later married the love of her life, Dick, on August 18, 1967.
As a pastor's wife for 55 years, Barbara faithfully served her Lord as a leader and mentor to women in the churches Dick pastored, as well as ministering to pastors' wives and missionaries overseas. Early in her married years she served as President of the Women's Missionary Auxiliary for the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas. She served as a member as well as a leader of multiple Women's Ministries organizations in the churches where her husband was pastoring. One of her greatest passions was studying and teaching ladies the word of God. While living in Bandera, Texas, she was hostess to pastors and missionaries and their families at the Creek House, a respite for ministers and missionaries located in the Texas hill country.
Outside of being a pastor's wife, her greatest joy was found in being the absolute best wife, mother, and Ba (grandmother) her family could ever ask for.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dick; her four daughters: Christy (Kevin) DeWitt, Lisa (Chris) Burgess, Becca (Jackson) Robinson, Liz (Ryan) Stone; her grandchildren Kevin (Kendall), Kenzie, Mariana, Megan, Josh, Claire, Lynnlee, Scarlett, Charlie, and Olive; and her great grandchildren Kinley, Graham, and Kaleb.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Theo and Irene Graham, and sister Linda Gaye Shelkofsky Nelson, and two precious grandbabies.
A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Philippi Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN, with visitation from 1-2:30 pm and a service will follow at 3pm. Flowers can be sent to Philippi Baptist Church 2484 Harrison Pike, Cleveland, TN 37311.
