Barbara Monroe

Barbara Jane Hyde Monroe, 80, a lifelong resident of Athens, TN passed away on Thursday evening, February 8, 2024, at her home. She was born on January 2, 1944, a daughter of the Johhny & Mildred Wood. Barbara was of the Baptist faith and a member of Eastanallee Baptist Church. She loved going to church, shopping at thrift stores and just loved being around people.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children Fred Hyde and second husband Bruce Monroe.

Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory her three sons and their wives Jeff Hyde (Charlotte), Steve Hyde (Stacie) and Freddie Hyde (Patricia), seven grandchildren Josh Hyde (Heather), Jake Hyde (Ashley), Allison Hyde, Caleb Hyde, Clint Hyde, Jace Hyde and Kade Hyde, five great grandchildren, one sister Wilma Jean Munson (John), numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the Athens chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 400 S White Street in Athens, TN. A service celebrating her life will follow the visitation time on Monday at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Steve Gamble officiating.

The interment will follow in the Clearwater Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
