Barbara Jean McKinney, 89, peacefully left this world Tuesday November 21, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a lifelong resident of Birchwood, TN but spent her last 7 years living with her daughter in Charleston, TN. She was a member of The Church of God.
Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her husband, James Winfred McKinney, parent, James Monroe & Hazel Irene Pierce, brothers, Ed, Harold, and Harvey Pierce and sister Ida Maxine Pierce. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Lynn Dean and husband James A. Dean, grandson, Samuel Jason Dean and wife Jennifer L. Dean, great-grandchildren James Wyatt and Samantha Jaylyn Dean, One brother, Sherman Pierce (Cathy) and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McKinney was a beautician in her early years and later provided a loving home for her family. She was a worldwide traveler and adventurer. She loved the outdoors, vegetable gardening, flowers, and animals. Shew as known for her love of God, family and friends. Anyone who met Mrs. McKinney remembers her radiant smile, good nature, and infectious optimism.
The family will be receiving friends at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland on Sunday November 25, 2018 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. A graveside funeral service will be held at McInturff Cemetery at 1:00pm on Monday November 26, 2018. Jason Dean, Wyatt Dean, Bryan Pierce, Jimmy Coffman, Casey Suits, Jared Suits, R.L. Hicks, and Billy Ingram will be serving as pallbearers. Rev. Ray Ingram will be officiating the service.
