Barbara Jane Day, 73, of Cleveland, TN, passed away on July 28, 2023. She was born on May 13, 1949, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Emory and Norma Lotts.
Barbara, also known as "Jane," to her dad, had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. She was always surrounded by friends and family, and she loved being out and about. Barbara had a passion for shopping and creating things, but her true joy came from giving to others. Her generosity and love touched the lives of those around her on a daily basis. She poured her heart and soul into her beloved husband of 55 years, Timothy Day, their children, Ryan Day & wife Martha and Rachel Nicholas & husband Jason, and her siblings, Rich (Deb) Lotts, Pat (John) Daugherty, and Judy (Fritz) Sprunger.
Barbara also considered so many others as her “adopted children" and family and showered them with her love.
In addition to her immediate family, Barbara is survived by her grandchildren, Misty Autumn Black, Noah, Jackson, Josiah, Caleb, and Ellie Kate Nicholas, as well as her great-grandchildren, Xavier, and Kelsey Jane. She was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Delilah Violet Black.
Barbara attended Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Indiana and later pursued fulfilling careers. Throughout her life, Barbara took on various roles, including working as a nurse tech, dental assistant, real estate manager, bank manager, and childcare director. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her brother & sisters especially in these last few years and the bonus family of in-laws from the Vore family. However, her most cherished role was that of a full-time mother & wife. She devoted herself to her children's lives, actively participating in their education, serving as a band parent, and organizing church events and doting on the love of her life, Tim, whom she knew from the time they shared a crib in church nursery. .
Barbara found solace and strength in her faith in Jesus. She was currently a member of Matthew's Table Church and had very fond memories of her time at Northside Baptist (Rock Hill S.C.) where she attended for 10 years. She held a deep love for her church family and had a passion for ministering to those who did not yet know Jesus.
In her free time, Barbara indulged in her hobbies, including working with crafts & flowers, driving her car with the top down & loving her pets. She loved planning get-togethers and enjoyed traveling with her husband, Tim, creating countless cherished memories along the way.
Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and devotion will continue to inspire and impact the lives of those she touched.
Barbara’s family will receive friends from 4pm until 6pm on Thursday August 3rd at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 6pm at the funeral home with Rusty Langford officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30pm on Friday August 4th.
